Dear users,

We are pleased to inform you that three additional collections have been added to the Hydroweb.next catalogue. These collections are produced using the SurfWater processing chain, which applies Sentinel 1 radar imagery to generate water occurrence masks for continental surfaces. The new collections are:

• “Theia Surface Water S1 Instant Watermask” (https://doi.org/10.24400/329360/SW_L2_S1_SINGLE) – an instantaneous binary mask that shows a single date snapshot of water presence.
• “Theia Surface Water S1 Monthly Occurrence” (https://doi.org/10.24400/329360/SW_L3_S1_MONTHLY) – a monthly occurrence mask that indicates how frequently water was detected over the course of a month.
• “Theia Surface Water S1 Yearly Occurrence” (https://doi.org/10.24400/329360/SW_L3_S1_YEARLY) – an annual occurrence mask that summarises water presence throughout an entire year. The first products focus on the Amazon Basin and the Congo Basin. We hope these additions will be useful for your research and operational work, and we welcome any feedback you may have.

The Hydroweb.next team

During this summer period, the hydroweb.next catalogue continues to expand. The hydroweb.next team announces the release of two new collections, each accompanying a scientific publication that is currently being prepared or revised:

• “Mean Lake Surface from SWOT,” available directly via the DOI https://doi.org/10.24400/329360/MEAN_LAKE_SURFACE
• “SWOT L4 River Bathymetry SICFLOW,” available directly via the DOI https://doi.org/10.24400/329360/SWOT_L4_BATHY_SICFLOW_V1

Both collections are based on SWOT products. The first provides a mean elevation of lake surfaces for a selection of roughly 1,300 large lakes and can be seen as a proxy for the geoid elevation beneath these lakes. The second provides an actual reconstruction of the so‑called “dry” bathymetry of river beds—that is, the elevation range between the lowest and highest surface measurements—and can be used for 1D river modeling.

Dear users,

The hydroweb.next team is delighted to announce the release of a new collection on their platform: annual land cover maps (OSO) for metropolitan France.

These maps can be directly downloaded or previewed on an interactive map directly on the platform. Maps from 2016 to 2024 is already available, and future annual maps will be added as soon as they are produced.
