The Sentinel-3 Lake Water Level Demonstration Product dataset provides satellite altimetry-derived water level observations over lakes and reservoirs, along with the corresponding uncertainties.
The Sentinel-3 Lake Water Level Demonstration Product dataset is organized into transects. A transect is a combination of <satellite>, <ground-track> and <lake identifier>. This dataset is generated considering the Prior Lake Database (PLD). The <lake identifier> corresponds to the <PLD id>.
The Sentinel-3 Lake Water Level Demonstration Product uses an Unfocused SAR (UFSAR) configuration with 80 Hz posting rate, zero-padding and a Hamming window. An innovative retracker is used. This is a physical retracker that simulates scene observed by the altimeter by considering the lake/reservoir contour of the PLD.
These Level-3 products are derived from the corresponding SRAL Level-2 Thematic Demonstration Products for Hydrology (SR_2_TDP_HY), which are distributed by ESA via the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem portal.
